
Piña Colada
It was created in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the 1950s.
The name piña colada literally means "strained pineapple", a reference to the freshly pressed and strained pineapple juice used in the drink's preparation.
It's a tropical sweet cocktail made with rum, cream of coconut and pineapple juice. It is usually served either blended or shaken with ice.
This mix of pineapple and coconut is an iconic taste that makes this cocktail one of the best of the world.
Ingredients
- 6 Oz pineapple juice
- 2 Oz white rum
- 1/2 Oz coconut cream
- Pineapple wedge for garnish.
Elaboration Process
- Pour the coconut cream, the pineapple juice and the white rum into shaker with crushed ice and shake very well until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into chilled glass and garnish with pineapple wedge or a maraschino cherry.
- Serve with an umbrella.
