Mai Tai

Mai Tai means “Out of this World”. It’s a traditional cocktail with both dark and white rum, triple sec, almond syrup, lime and a retro cherry garnish. It is a perfect drink to take in afternoon or evening, especially in summer. If you like, you can give a little color and sweet flavor with a blow of grenadine. Also a bit of sugar suits well because it has strong flavor.


  • 1 and 1/2 Oz dark rum
  • 1 Oz white rum
  • 1/2 Oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 Oz orange curaçao
  • Ice cubes
  • 1/2 Oz org eat syrup
  • 1 cup cracked ice
  • Pineapple wedge
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish
  • 2 paper umbrellas

Elaboration Process

  1. Put the light rum, orange Curacao, orgeat syrup, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice.
  2. Cover and shake for about 20 seconds to chill the liquid really well.
  3. Strain the mixture into the glass filled with ice cubes.
  4. Float the remaining dark rum on top.
  5. Garnish with a wedge of pineapple, maraschino cherries and paper umbrellas.
  6. Serve immediately.
